2. Insert. Numerous reports of heavy security presence and constant helicopter activity in the area during the weekend prior to the explosion. Most non-specific references in the chronology of security force activity refer to this area.

3. Mile House and surrounding area. Heavy security force presence and numerous checkpoints noted in the weeks prior to the explosion. Eight to ten soldiers, no vehicles present, seen in fields opposite Mile House one week prior to explosion. Soldiers dropped by Helicopter in same area on 13.3.99.

4. 'Fox's Field'. Heavy security force presence and helicopter activity in the fields during the weekend prior to the explosion. Numerous reports of soldiers dropped in fields by helicopter.

5. Victoria Street. Army checkpoint noted at 4.40pm on 12.2.99.

6. William Street Car Park. Three army landrovers parked facing road, approximately 100 yards from Rosemary Nelson's office during the afternoon of 13.3.99.

7. Tannaghmore Primary School. Heavy security presence and helicopter activity noted throughout weekend prior to explosion. Lynx helicopter, with heli-tele / image intensifier attached noted hovering over the school grounds during the evening of 14.3.99.

8. Junction of North Circular Road and Lake Street. RUC and RIR landrovers parked at 6.45pm on 14.3.99. No checkpoint noted.

9. Junction of Lake Street and Victoria Street. Five RUC landrovers parked at 7.30pm on 14.3.99.

10. Junction of North Street and Lake Street. Vehicle Checkpoint at 6.30pm, 14.3.99.

11. Shore Road. RIR patrol noted at 8.00am on 15.3.99. (While 'Shore Road' is not shown on the map, it is generally used to refer to the northern end of Lake Street. The road from the junction of Lake Street and North Street to the Mile House is variously referred to as Lake Street, Shore Road and Castor's Bay Road.)

12. Kilmaine Street Railway Bridge. One RUC officer and two soldiers noted standing on bridge at 9.20 am on 15.3.99.

13. Lurgan RUC Barracks. Officers in overalls inside barracks at approximately 10.00am on 15.3.99. Dog van also noted.

14. Lake Street Railway Junction. RUC/RIR patrol at 10.00am on 15.3.99. One member of RIR took an object from a hedge and placed it in another's rucksack.

15. Annesborough Road Junction. Vehicle checkpoint at 5.30pm, 14.3.99. A number of other checkpoints along this road, between the exit junction from the M1 and Tannaghmore Hill (beside Tannaghmore P.S.) were noted on 14.3.99.

16. North Circular Road. Vehicle checkpoint at 5.30pm, 14.3.99.

17/18. Vehicle checkpoints on either side of Church Place, 11.30 pm, 14.3.99.
